Patriots Tackle Nate Solder and his family will join Sailing Heals for its 2nd Annual Pirates and Princesses Treasure Hunt Adventure

NEWS/Boston, MA. – Every year, thousands of pediatric patients are treated at Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, Mass General Hospital Pediatric Oncology and other organizations throughout the city. Unfortunately, hundreds have to stay there long term, even through the summer. Summer is a time where kids should be out having fun. These kids are not always able to enjoy summer due to financial restrictions, time and health reasons.

The Sailing Heals organization have been giving back to cancer patients and their families across the United States for the past five years, but wanted to do even more, especially for these young kids and their families.

That’s when they decided to team up with the Boston Yacht Club to host the ‘Pirates and Princesses Treasure Hunt Adventure’ in Marblehead, MA. This special day includes cruising on power boats, treasure hunts, a delicious pirate-themed lunch and the chance for kids to be real pirate and princesses for the day! This year, Sailing Heals is excited to announce that Patriots tackle Nate Solder, his wife Lexi and infant son Hudson will join in the fun as well! Hudson is battling a rare form of kidney cancer known as Wilms tumor, which primarily affects young children under the age of five. The Richard Family, survivors of the Boston Marathon bombings, along with several other families who have gone through serious health issues, will also participate in the event.

Where: Boston Yacht Club
1 Front St. Marblehead, MA
When: Wednesday, June 29th
10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The town of Marblehead has officially named June 29th “Pirates Day” in the spirit of getting the larger community involved with the event.

Since its inception in 2011, Sailing Heals—with support from Panerai, Eisai Inc., and private donors—has hosted sea-side lunches and yachting events in more than 20 ports across nine states for 2,000 VIP guests.

Of last year’s event, one parent said: “The day was amazing and beautiful and filled with very special people. Along Noah’s journey we have come across some giving and special people which is so nice to see and experience. We all need more people like you. Thank you again for such a wonderful and beautiful experience for myself and my family.”

About Sailing Heals

Sailing Heals is a 501(c)(3) organization which offers enjoyable sailing experiences to VIP patient guests, their caretakers and staff who would benefit from a memorable and healing day on the water. Originating in Marblehead, MA, its mission is to give people in need an “escape for a spirit-lifting day at sea.” Its second aim is to bring the great sport of sailing and the healing properties of the sea to people who might not ordinarily be exposed to its benefits; and its third aim is to be the charity of choice for sailing and boating enthusiasts who are keen to give back to others and share their beloved sport. Sailing Heals is supported by generous donors and sponsors, such as Founding Sponsor Officine Panerai, (an Italian-designed, Swiss-made fine watchmaker which is the title sponsor of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge), Eisai inc, an active Board of Directors, over 180 Host Captains, Donors and Volunteers.
